On Countdown

The mad rush of the lake season opening continues to be a mad rush as the soon-to-be-winding-down lake season is joined with back-to-school season. We've been spending our time doing our normal several things at once. We've been able to take the kids swimming, boating, skiing, and massive playing in all the parks.

Over the weekend was Austin Lake's trick or treat event (Gage refers to this as pretend Halloween). He, of course, was a fireman and Leila was a Ladybug. Leila had to be lured along with Skittles because once she got her first treat, she just wanted to have a seat in the middle of the road and eat. Once she got the hang of it, she was quite gracious that everyone kept giving her 'chewies.' Too bad other people didn't notice her signing for 'more' :) It was cute even if only I knew what she was doing.

Gage went fishing with Wesley and Hannah over the weekend and he was finished in about five minutes as he was really just interested in swimming. He's not much for slow-moving activities just yet. I didn't get to watch him, but I was glad that he caught a couple of fish even though he wouldn't touch them once he got them into shore.

As we continue with just trying to cram in the fun between all the work, school is approaching for all of us. I think we'll be in good shape, but I'm not sure about our babysitter's shape yet as Leila is going through massive separation anxiety--even when I'm home, yet in a different room, than she is in.

I went to school for Austin today to work on some bulletin boards for him because he just can't get away from the lake and it started to sink in that Gage would be going to Stanton Preschool. I was pregnant with Gage when I subbed at Stanton so the ladies I talked to today just couldn't believe he was four. That makes all of us.

As soon as you get used to change in life, more changes are inevitable. Good thing we aren't able to get too comfortable and so we just keep rolling through all the changes.
