Slacking

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've had any kind of post. It has been a long, hard month to say the least, but there has still been so much going on that I wish I would have captured while fresh in my mind. In turn, my mind is blank for how to update this ongoing history book.

I'm working more hours than I've ever worked since becoming a mom so I have really had moral dilemma after moral dilemma lately. My saving grace is how much Leila loves to go to Mollie's house. As much as I miss her, going to Mollie's has been so good for her. She's such a social girl--imagine that-- and she busies herself with people over 'toys' all the time so it makes complete sense that she enjoys being around all that action--not to mention her best friends.

I went to Columbus this past weekend to run my annual 5K with Amy and on my way (trying not to feel badly about more time spent away from my kids) I listened to Fresh Air on NPR. The author being interviewed had the best timed insight into motherhood and relationships and she spoke directly to me, it felt. As much as I was raised with one image of a mother (my own), we all have to struggle to create the image of a mother that is good for ourselves, our times, and our family. The thing I want my children to take from this is that it is important to remember to always evolve and shape your roles so that they are contextually sound, strong for the time, the best you know how to do.

Thus, slacking on the blog is a sign of hard work elsewhere other than a computer screen. :)
