I better get better at this girl-thing!

Last night Austin and I tried to wrap up (no pun intended) our Christmas shopping for the kids. Unfortunately, due to time and tiredness, we settled on our local Wal Mart versus anywhere else because I thought all I really needed to buy were stocking stuffers. However, although Austin is as practical with money as I am, he rarely voluntarily shops for the kids-- so when he does, it's a long evening of checking the fine print on everything.

Even though our total was way over budget, I can say confidently that we bought the only cool things in that store. If Wal Mart is any indication of what exists for little girls to play with, this family is going to root harder for Miss Leila to be a tomboy. If Leila turns out to care about that girlie-girl stuff, I'm going to have to re-raise myself so I can relate. It has definitely been an entirely different learning curve raising Leila, as it is, I'm sure, with every additional child. My dad chuckles at Leila and says, "just like her mother." Unfortunately, those comments are made during one of her temper tantrums... and at this age, even they are kind of cute.
