I had to come to work today to rest. One would think that resting should be done at home, but this summer has proven that to be the worst place to be unless you want to over multi-task and finish zero conversations.
In the summer semester, my course load lasted only five weeks, so since my teaching gig is over, I'm only tutoring... which, nicely enough, is more what I refer to as paid planning time for my fall classes. However, Gage's diet plan has been my main focus of the day and I'm quite proud of myself because I completely figured it out, laid it out, made it user friendly, and am pretty stoked that every five days Gage can eat french fries without me calling it a 'cheat'. (Yes, he's allergic to potatoes.)
In celebration, today marks the day that I watched my son scarf down an entire order of french fries (that means I didn't count them out, lie to him and tell him they were all gone, nor did I feed him sweet potato fries trying to convince them that they are the "yellow ones"). Who knew what a little potato could do for a growing boy's mood... or for a mom's mood. The world may not be lifted from my shoulders, but I think I have dumped at least the Atlantic Ocean off my back.
