A baby's first birthday in the Cable household, at least, marks survival-- survival through pregnancy, through colic and other sickness, through those tortuous first three months (or longer)... survival of nursing and sleep deprivation, c-sections and shingles, survival of so many moments in public that are just so much harder with baby along. It's a year that marks taking care of another human being whose entire survival is at the hands of someone else. The first year marks milestones-- a growing family bonded by blood, sweat, tears, and joy. We learn the strength of our hearts and minds and we learn a different kind of appreciation for life, compassion, and gratitude.
The tags in our clothes, the make and model of our cars, the square footage of our home--none are comparable to the gift of time we have to be surrounded by the ones we love and who love us. A baby's first birthday is a marking of so many greats that have occurred and will occur... Ms. Leila, you are great and we are so happy you came to us!
